Pilates classes - Vancouver, BC
Pilates is a series of exercises created to improve core stability and strengthen the postural muscles of the entire body. Emphasis is on using the deep abdominals including the tranverse abdominus as well as the pelvic floor muscles to perform functional exercises. The benefits of pilates include:
1. Aiding in injury rehabilitation (including back and neck pain)
2. Developing postural and abdominal muscles
3. Preventing injury and/or re-injury
4. Improving body awareness and posture
5. Improving athletic ability in all sports
6. Increasing range of motion and flexibility
7. Developing more defined and leaner muscles
8. Stress relief
9. Aiding with recovery and/or prevention of urinary incontinence and pelvic floor dysfunction
Classes are based on the STOTT principle of pilates and will be instructed by a physiotherapist. Participant numbers are small (6-8 participants per class) allowing for close supervision to emphasise correct technique. Sessions will be 8 weeks long and participants will have the choice of attending 1 or 2 times a week. Classes are all "beginner level" and will advance to intermediate as participants progress together.
Class Times: Wednesdays: 6:10 PM – 7 PM
Thursdays 12:10 PM – 1 PM
Class Prices:
1 session/week, 8 weeks $280
